Here you will find the most important information for the application process and what you have to keep in mind before and after your enrollment.

Before application

Before your application, please make sure that you read the following information:

  • check the beginning of the programme (start in summer or winter semester)

Important Information on Knowledge of German

In order to study at Halle University, you need to prove sufficient knowledge of German (except for English speaking study programmes). For that, the following certificates are accepted as adequate:

  • DSH-2 certificate
  • Test-DaF certificate (with at least level 4 in each section)
  • Goethe certificate C2: GDS
  • German language diploma of the Conference of German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (DSD)
  • telc Deutsch (C1) Hochschule

Applicants with no such certificate might apply for the external DSH examination.

For admission to the DSH exam, you need to prove at least 1000 hours of German lessons.

You need at least 600 hours of German lessons (which equals level B1 of the CEFR) to be accepted for the entry exam at Studienkolleg.

Residing in Halle

Students have many options to reside - such as student halls, shared appartements (very popular among German students; short: WG) as well as renting an own appartement.

You should browse the freshers portal of Uni Halle Ich-will-wissen    for more hints and further addresses. You might even find residence notices online at StudIP 'Weißes Brett' or at campus buildings and central canteens.
